Advice on packing and moving FAQ

Here are a few tips and tricks to make sure your move goes smoothly, and keeps the price as low as possible. The more you can do to prepare the less time it takes for your move and subsequently the less you will have to pay!

On the removal Day

Move your items and boxes as near to the exit as you can - without blocking your way through!
Try and keep the items in the order they need to be for optimum van loading:

1) Awkward and bulky items (Mirrors, flat packed items, lamps, drawers)
2) Boxes & Suitcases
3) Bags and plastic bags

Open boxes...

Please close and then seal your boxes. It makes loading easier, safer and quicker. If an item won't fit comfortably into a box, wrap it in bubble wrap and leave it seperate. A box with a badly fitting item is likely to break.

Overloaded boxes

Please don't overload boxes. Our drivers are strong, but as a general rule, if you can't lift it neither can we. An overloaded box is likely to break. If you can't fit it all in - use another box.

Items in bags

Where you can, use bags, suitcases, rucksacks and holdalls for your items. Plastic bags have a tendency to split causing damage to your items.

Parking

London parking is notoiously difficult and unfair. It is just not possible to move items in and out of a house without having a permit. Many areas are no covered by CCTV camera and a ticket is not even issued on the day or posted on the vehicle. Therefore, it is essential that you have obtained the correct passes, have enough space for a van to park and at the very least access to a payment machine. We cannot be held liable for parking tickets if you don't have this organised.

Getting access

Try and keep all doors, stairs, lifts and hallways clear of boxes and obstructions. It will make it quic=ker and easier to load the van.

Fridges and Freezers

Try not to buy any fridge or freezer food for at least two weeks before you are due to move, so nothing goes to waste, remember to defrost and drain at least 48hours before the move, appliances must be dry.

Flat Pack Furniture

To save time and expense - dismantle flat pack furniture in advance. Put all the screws, nuts and bolts etc in a bag and tape it the furniture itself. We can put it back together for you if you don't have time - Click here for more details on that service.
